The Dueck Defense RBU

From the invoice: 0070- RBU for Trijicon RMR - Glock RBU for Trijicon RMR w/ Standard Iron Sight - Glock

DUECK DEFENSE, Holosun, and DARA Holsters. I paid full price. No consideration given/provided for this review. They will probably never see this review anyway.

I have a Glock 20. I also have a Holosun 507C-GR. The G20 does not have the Glock MOS system (pre-tapped holes in the slide) like the Glock 40 has. So, if you want to use a something like a Trijicon RMR or a Holosun 507C, you have two options: a) tap the slide; b) get an RBU from Dueck. I prefer to purchase another slide, pre-milled by someone like Carver Custom, rather than have only one slide that I have permanently altered. Just me.

The RBU is solid. "Feels" as solid as the slide on the Glock. From their website:

• CNC Machined in the USA from US Mill certified bar stock
• Nitride coated giving a super hard matte black surface finish that is highly corrosion     resistant even in salt water environments
• Uses factory rear sight dovetail. No modification to your gun
• Optimal mounting height to clear Suppressors
• Compatible with most open top and red dot tactical holsters
• MADE IN THE USA

To install, you remove the rear, dovetail sight. You then insert the RBU's dovetail into the slide. No physical changes have been made to the slide. If you want to mill your slide later, you still can. You can even remove the RBU without too much work.

In the photo on the left, you can see the RBU rear site. You can also see, directly in front of the Hol507C, the front site post that is also on the RBU. Dueck offers a 'night sight' option. I did not choose this option. Windage dial in the picture on the right of Hol507C. Brightness controls of the Hol507C on the left.

In the full photo, the incredible thin-ness of the RBU is easier to understand. (Yes, this is my EDC). I have the Optic Cut, Light Bearing AIWB from DARA Holsters.

According to Holosun's site, their optic has the same mounting layout as Trijicon's RMR. I emailed Dueck. Asked about mounting the Holosun507C to ensure I was ordering the correct RBU. Manny replied quickly. He recommended that I request the longer screws because the Holosun is 'deeper' than the Trijicon when installing. I did include that in my order. I did recieve them. Like most great small vendors, Dueck's customer service is excellent.

Does it do exactly what it is designed to do? Yes. The optic is held in place without interfering in the utilization of the weapon platform.

2. No rattle/loose noise Checkmark Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock
3. Does not interfere with site picture Checkmark Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock
4. Does not interfere with target acquisition Checkmark Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock

Is that it? Yes, that is it. I wanted a solid, well-crafted optic mount that allowed me to avoid permanently altering my firearm. That is exactly what I Dueck's RBU is.

Would I recommend it? YES.

Is it expensive? Compared to what? A new slide? No. Compared to having a gunsmith tap the slide? Not really?

Price: as of this reveiw, $129 for the 'no night sights' option, $149 for the night sites option.
